The Ford F-Series has been in production since the Andrews Sisters were still the hottest act on the radio—and when the Ford F-150 came on the scene, it changed everything. It has been America's best-selling pickup since 1977.

But being the best doesn't mean you can't still improve. In fact, constant innovation is exactly what has helped the 2017 Ford F-150 stay on top of the competition, like the bold choice to switch to an aluminum body.

In a recent video, Autotrader's Jabari Jones took an old 1995 Ford F-150, which had been kitted for off-roading, out on a test drive to compare it with the new 2017 model.

The difference was stark.

The lifted 1995 F-150 had such a stiff suspension, he was holding on for dear life over every rock and bump. The interior was Spartan, except for a new audio system that was installed. He concluded that it was a matter of taste—some people enjoy the classic workhorse-style truck—but on comparison to the new model, it was clear which truck was the best choice for less masochistic drivers.
